Personal story
How do you turn your experience into a pinned video script?
Organize real choices and changes into a spoken introduction: who you are, why you do this work and whom you can help.
What you will work toward
A spoken draft built around meaningful experiences. Check its facts and read it aloud before you record, edit and pin the video yourself.
Before you start
- A few experiences that shaped your current work: roughly when they happened, the situation, your choice and what changed afterward.
- Whom you serve now, what you actually offer, and any details you prefer to keep private.
- One reason you want viewers to understand your story and a target length to test by reading aloud.
1Collect the experiences before writing the story
Open the origin story assistant and describe the experiences that come to mind. Type them, or use the microphone and check the transcription. Record the situation, your choice and what happened afterward, rather than just listing jobs and dates.
Use approximate dates when needed and mark unconfirmed outcomes. Do not add a dramatic conversation, late night or emotional scene that did not happen. You do not need to begin with your birth.
I want to make a pinned video introducing myself. Help me organize the material before writing a full script. What I do now: [fill in] Whom I help: [fill in] Experiences I am willing to share: - Time or stage: [fill in] - Situation or problem: [fill in] - What I chose to do and why: [fill in] - What actually changed afterward: [fill in] (Add more experiences if useful.) Arrange the timeline and separate confirmed facts from missing information. Ask the one question that matters most for understanding the story. Do not invent scenes or achievements.
2Choose the decisions that explain your work today
Pick experiences relevant to your current work and intended audience. Check whether the earlier situation, your actions and the subsequent changes connect. The number of events depends on the material and intended length; there is no required count.
Your story does not need a dramatic low point followed by extraordinary success. A revised judgment or a change in how you deliver your work can also explain your approach. Keep real trade-offs and unresolved questions.
3Connect the story to what you do now
Explain which practices grew out of those experiences, where you use them today and whom they can help. If an experience and a product have no direct connection, describe them separately instead of inventing a neat origin story.
Once the structure is checked, ask for a spoken draft. Give a new viewer an accessible opening. End with one invitation, such as reading another piece or learning about your service, without adding your whole price list.
Write a spoken draft using the experiences we have checked. Decisions to focus on: [fill in] Their real connection to my current work: [fill in; say if there is no direct link] Audience: [fill in] What I want viewers to understand: [fill in] Target duration: [fill in; I will adjust after a read-through] One closing invitation: [fill in] Give a brief outline, then the script. Every specific date, action, quotation and achievement must come from confirmed material. Keep uncertainty visible instead of turning it into a fact.
4Read it aloud before planning the recording
Time a read-through. Split sentences that make you stumble, explain unfamiliar terms and remove repeated background details. If it runs long, cut side stories before trying to speak faster.
Ask someone unfamiliar with the story whether they understand what you do, why you do it and whom you help. Check what you are comfortable making public, then save or copy the draft. This assistant produces a text script; it does not automatically record or publish the video.
Review before you finish
- Dates, actions, quotations and outcomes have sources; uncertain details remain uncertain.
- Important choices explain their reasons and consequences without invented hardship or success.
- The connection to my current service is natural and does not imply unsupported customer results.
- I have timed a read-through, checked other people’s privacy and kept one closing invitation.
Your next step
Record a short practice read and listen for anything unnatural before revising. Let the material and read-through determine the length. A script alone does not guarantee inquiries or sales.
